Chromebook Policy

The primary MINOR OFFENSES that we are presently experiencing are students messaging or playing games during instruction.

NO MESSAGING APPS should be on the Chromebook.  [STUDENT MESSAGING COULD BE A MAJOR OFFENSE DEPENDING ON THE CONTENT OF THE MESSAGE.]

If an educational app is required for classroom instruction, students may download the designated app.  We will follow a PBS model for minor infractions:

1ST OFFENSE: Teacher talks to the student and documents the incident on the Chromebook PBS spreadsheet.

2ND OFFENSE: Teacher calls the parent and documents the incident on the Chromebook PBS spreadsheet.

3RD OFFENSE: Chromebook is taken, and the parent meets with an administrator.  After the meeting, the Chromebook will be returned to the student.

4TH OFFENSE: Chromebook is taken for two weeks.

5TH OFFENSE: CHROMEBOOK IS TAKEN FOR FOUR WEEKS

MAJOR OFFENSE

  1. PROFANITY OR INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE

  2. PICTURES IN VIOLATION OF DPSB INTERNET USE AGREEMENT

  3. BULLYING

As always, the Principal has final discretion for issues not specifically stated in this policy.
