LOGANSPORT, LA – On Thursday, June 7, at the meeting of the DeSoto Parish School Board, board members unanimously approved the naming of the Logansport High School football field in honor of longtime coach, educator, and board member Coach Dale Morvan.
The newly named Dale Morvan Field at Tiger Stadium marks the culmination of a major renovation project funded through the 2023 bond issue, bringing new life and enhanced facilities to one of the most tradition-rich athletic venues in DeSoto Parish.
“Coach Morvan has spent most of his adult life serving Logansport High School—as a coach, educator, and board member,” said Superintendent Clay Corley. “His impact goes far beyond wins and championships. Naming the field in his honor is a tribute to a legacy that has shaped generations of students, athletes, and leaders.”
Coach Morvan served as the head football coach at Logansport from 1978 to 1998, leading the Tigers to 153 victories, including five district titles and a 1995 Class A State Championship. He also captured a girls basketball state championship in 1977, and later served on the Football All-Star Game coaching staff and the LSU Football Clinic staff.
Since 2015, Morvan has represented District 7 on the DeSoto Parish School Board, playing a key role in securing funding and community support for over $35 million in improvements to Logansport’s school facilities—including the upgrades at Tiger Stadium.
The stadium renovations, funded by the 2023 bond, include:
A new press box and expanded seating capacity
Upgraded turf and field drainage systems
Enhanced locker room facilities and team areas
Improved lighting, sound, and scoreboard systems
ADA-compliant accessibility upgrades
Expanded parking and safety improvements
“This dedication is more than just a name on a sign,” said Logansport High School Athletic Director Kevin Magee. “It’s a permanent reminder of the standards Coach Morvan set, the lives he touched, and the excellence he inspired.”
A formal dedication ceremony and celebration at Tiger Stadium will be announced in the coming weeks, inviting alumni, students, and the entire Logansport community to honor Coach Morvan and tour the newly renovated facilities.
