DeSoto Parish Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Kourteni Henderson as the district’s new School Wellness Coordinator within the Department of Student Services.
Entering her 13th year in education, Henderson brings a wealth of experience in teaching, counseling, and student support. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, all from Louisiana Tech University. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC).
Since joining DeSoto Parish Schools in 2018, Henderson has served students and families in a variety of impactful roles. Her experience includes serving as a teacher, lead teacher, and master teacher at Logansport High School, as well as a school counselor at Mansfield Elementary School and North DeSoto Middle School.
Throughout her career, Henderson has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to student advocacy, emotional wellness, and whole-child development. Her student-centered approach focuses on creating safe, supportive learning environments where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
“I believe that when students feel supported socially and emotionally, they are better equipped to succeed in every aspect of their lives,” said Ms. Henderson.
“I am excited to serve as School Wellness Coordinator and to work alongside our students, families, and staff to strengthen wellness initiatives that help every child thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.”
As School Wellness Coordinator, Henderson will play a key role in supporting districtwide wellness initiatives, coordinating resources and services for students, and strengthening efforts to promote positive mental health, student well-being, and school connectedness across DeSoto Parish Schools.
