Our NDHS welders enjoyed some down time yesterday with some of Louisiana's finest friends. We are proud of the work they do and the certifications they earn are invaluable to them after high school. Thank you Mr. Emerson for your work with them daily and for celebrating accomplishments.

The new plan prioritizes many of the priorities identified by the community in the survey including improved traffic patterns and a focus on academic areas instead of athletic spaces. With the $85.2 million bond proposal, district 2 would see:
-Improved traffic patterns
-Expanded NDLE with seven new classrooms, new restrooms, new occupational and physical therapy spaces, new library, new administration offices and removal of T-buildings
-A New High School for 900 students (functional capacity not maximum capacity)
-Increased CTE spaces
-Adjusted capacity for HS cafeteria (900 instead of 1,200 to seat half the student population at once) and gymnasium (1,400 instead of 1,800)
-In lieu of a full theater, the plan includes a 450-seat multipurpose space with audience-style seating. This space could be used for drama, cheer, dance, wrestling and other activities when retractable seating is pushed back.

Monday Bond Note for April 22nd

How would the bond impact Career and Technical Education?
CTE is an important part of our educational programming. Currently we have four teachers sharing spaces with welding and carpentry courses being at maximum enrollment. There are many times when two classes are sharing space to work on projects, causing challenges for hands-on learning. For medical classes, we are also seeing maximum capacity with no dedicated lab space for skills labs and students having to use the hallway or improvise other areas for patient care exercises.
If the bond is approved by voters, three shops will be built in the new school including welding, carpentry, and general use with capacity for larger enrollment so more students can participate in programming. There would be additional dedicated space for CTE exploratory courses that gives students insight into careers such as welding, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and more. There will also be dedicated medical classrooms with storage areas and a health sciences lab that includes patient beds and space for skills labs. These spaces would be designed with these classes in mind!

Important update: In order to allow students, staff and community to travel to Sulphur to support our Griffin Softball team in the championship series, all ND schools will have a Virtual Instruction Day on Friday, April 26th. Teachers will give instructions on work for each block. Good luck Lady Griffins!!
