NDMS family, friends, and fans please remember our 2024 Elementary & Middle School Talented Art Exhibition, is tonight, April 23 @ 5:00 PM. The exhibit will be in the NDMS cafeteria.

We welcomed our 24-25 incoming 6th graders today. Upper’s 5th graders toured our campus and learned what possibilities await them in the fall. Tomorrow evening we look forward to hosting our incoming 6th graders along with their parents as we Level Up in preparation for August. It's a great day to be a Griffin!

How would the bond impact Career and Technical Education?
CTE is an important part of our educational programming. Currently we have four teachers sharing spaces with welding and carpentry courses being at maximum enrollment. There are many times when two classes are sharing space to work on projects, causing challenges for hands-on learning. For medical classes, we are also seeing maximum capacity with no dedicated lab space for skills labs and students having to use the hallway or improvise other areas for patient care exercises.
If the bond is approved by voters, three shops will be built in the new school including welding, carpentry, and general use with capacity for larger enrollment so more students can participate in programming. There would be additional dedicated space for CTE exploratory courses that gives students insight into careers such as welding, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and more. There will also be dedicated medical classrooms with storage areas and a health sciences lab that includes patient beds and space for skills labs. These spaces would be designed with these classes in mind!
Congratulations to our Lady Griffins winning second place in today's tournament at TC Elite. Our Lady Griffins beat Youree and Haughton before falling to Caddo. Great job, ladies! It's always a great day to be a Griffin!

Voters in District 2 (North DeSoto) can calculate their tax impact with the online tax calculator. If approved, a $300,000 home would see a monthly increase of $34.50. Watch the video to learn how to calculate your impact! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXQj4j7SgqI

Making changes to lessen the impact:
The April bond plan is $47.5 million less than the November 2023 plan! Many items that were in the 2023 bond plan have been eliminated in the new proposal to better align with the community’s desire to focus on academics.

NDMS family, friends, and fans please notice the rescheduled date of our 2024 Elementary & Middle School Talented Art Exhibition, Tuesday, April 23 @ 5:00 PM.

The DeSoto Parish School Board is dedicated to being a good steward of taxpayer dollars and are committed to using our resources to provide excellent educational opportunities for our students.
The cost to the taxpayer depends on the value of your home. For example, a $300,000 home in District No. 2 (North DeSoto) with a homestead exemption of $75,000 would have an adjusted taxable value of $225,000 which would be assessed at 10%. The increase from a millage of 3.6 to 22 would result in an annual increase of $414 per year or $34.50 per month.

Congratulations to our April 8th NDMS High Flyers. April’s characteristic is adaptability. Students that are adaptable are able to adjust to changes or things that are new to them, whether at home or school. Students that are able to adapt go with the flow of things and make positive adjustments to those things that change or seem different for them. It's a great day to be a Griffin! #TheDeSotoDifference #GriffinPride #GriffinStrong
