DeSoto Parish Schools is looking for an experienced and visionary Director of Finance to join our team! This position plays a critical role in ensuring the fiscal responsibility and efficiency of the school system.
Qualifications:
✅ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
✅ Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in an
educational or governmental setting.
✅ Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills.
✅ Proficiency in financial reporting systems, budget management, and compliance with state
and federal regulations.
✅ CPA certification (preferred but not required).

Attention high school students preparing for the ACT! Are you trying to raise your ACT score? Do you want more money for college? Are you tired of scoring the same score time and time again? DeSoto Parish will be hosting an ACT Bootcamp on January 18, 2025,at the DeSoto Parish School Board building. This event is free for all DeSoto Parish students. More dates are listed on the flyer below. Students attending must bring their Student ID. There will be a free pizza lunch for students who sign up to attend both morning and afternoon sessions! At this time ALL schools and district offices will be open for regular operations tomorrow Friday January, 10th.
We will continue to monitor conditions throughout the night and provide an update at 5 AM via our Facebook page as well as mobile and text alerts.


DeSoto Parish Schools Weather Update (3:30 PM): January 9, 2025
DeSoto Parish Schools continues to collaborate with the National Weather Service and DeSoto Parish emergency response agencies as the forecast evolves for Friday, Jan. 10. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
At this time, we plan to operate on a normal schedule on Friday, Jan. 10. We will send additional updates at 8 p.m. tonight.
We encourage everyone to stay informed by monitoring local weather forecasts and staying connected with us via our social and communication platforms.


📣 Reminder! Has your student outgrown their uniforms? Are they taking up space in the closet? Our DOVE students have partnered with UMSHARE to host a uniform drive, and there's still time to donate!
Please bring gently used uniforms, spirit shirts, jackets/hoodies, and belts to one of the collection baskets at your school. Donations will be accepted through the end of January, and DOVE students will pick up the baskets at that time.
All items collected will be distributed to students across the district who are in need. Let’s come together to make a difference and showcase our commitment to a positive and caring culture! #DeSotoServes


The DeSoto Parish School Board convened for its regular meeting on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, and approved the academic calendar for the 2025-2026 school year. Based on feedback from surveys to internal and external stakeholders, the comprehensive calendar is designed to provide students, parents, and educators with a structured and effective framework for the upcoming academic year.
Next school year’s calendar closely mirrors the current academic calendar with a key difference of having off on the Easter Monday holiday.
