🚀🌟 Our 4th grade learners are working in small groups, practicing decomposing fractions to find sums, strengthening their problem-solving skills and mathematical understanding. This week we learned of an incredible achievement where 80.4 % of our K-3 students are reading at or above grade level—#1 in growth for the state of Louisiana. This growth doesn't happen without the people who are the central core of our schools, our teachers and school teams.
It is about our teachers who saw potential in every student and worked tirelessly everyday to help them grow. It is about teachers who inspire, nurture, and encourage students that nothing is unachievable when you put belief in yourself. Our teachers, support staff, and leaders are the heartbeat, the coaches, and the mentors that open a student's eyes to a world of possibilities. You are the real difference makers and we are so fortunate to have you all as part of this DeSoto Parish Schools family.
Thank you for what you do and what you will continue to do for student success. #WinningTogether #TheDeSotoDifference

Students engineered secure storage boxes using everyday materials such as cardboard, foil, and straws, creating unique designs with locks, compartments, and protective features to safeguard important documents.
Working in teams, campers brainstormed, designed, tested, and improved their prototypes while practicing communication, collaboration, and engineering skills. During the showcase, students presented their inventions and explained how their solutions could improve safety, organization, accessibility, and quality of life in their communities.
Aligned with DeSoto Summer Learning’s “Out of This World” theme, the program encouraged students to think like inventors and community leaders by turning creative ideas into practical solutions for real-world challenges. #TheDeSotoDifference #CampInvention

While we are proud of this achievement, we know success like this is only possible through strong partnerships with our families.
Thank you to the parents, guardians, and caregivers who made reading a priority at home, encouraged learning every day, and worked alongside our schools to support student growth.
This recognition belongs to an entire community committed to helping our students thrive. Your partnership ensures that our school communities remain #DeSotoStrong

Dear DeSoto Family,
As we close the book on another school year, I am filled with great pride and much gratitude for the incredible accomplishments across DeSoto Parish Schools. The May issue of the DeSoto Digest truly highlights our mission of connecting the classroom to the community and demonstrates how our students, staff, and partners are Making a Difference every day.
This year, our students have achieved remarkable success, including a notable 10-point gain in early literacy, with 80% of K–3 students now reading at or above grade level. We have also seen our students excel through innovative, hands-on experiences, such as the new greenhouse and orchard at North DeSoto High School, where they are developing responsibility and valuable trade skills through real-world application. Congratulations are also due to the Lady Griffin LHSAA State Softball Champions and to the entire Class of 2026 as they embark on their next journey.
We also take a moment to honor the commitment of our employees and community partners. The dedication of The Heith Parker Facilities and Operations Building on May 8th was a meaningful tribute to a leader whose legacy of service continues to inspire us. I also want to thank our community partners for their support of our Employees of the Month program and the DOVE Dash fundraiser, which makes so many student experiences possible.
Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce JCampus Connect as our primary parent-teacher communication platform starting with the 2026–2027 school year, providing families with a more streamlined and connected experience. This transition will keep grades, attendance, assignments, school notifications, and direct communication all in one place. I urge all parents and guardians to download the JCampus Student App now to stay connected with their child's school and teachers.
Thank you to every student, staff member, family, and community partner for making this such a successful year. I encourage everyone to rest, relax, and have a great summer break! We look forward to welcoming everyone back in August
For Students' Sake,
Clay Corley
