The 8th graders have finished reading “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind”, which is an autobiography written by William Kamkwamba. Williams is from Malawi, Africa, the third poorest country in the world. At the age of 14 he created a windmill, with recycled materials, to provide energy for his community. This allowed them to have an irrigation system for their farms, which is the country’s main income. Today to celebrate the students brought Malawian dishes and games that Williams family depended on during the famine they faced before the windmill. They had ziguma cake, milk tarts, mango, and malva pudding while playing mancala.

Just a reminder Mrs. Coburn's Chemistry students & Mrs. Deas’ Adv. Math students going on the field trip need to be at the high school drop off location at 7:00 for the field trip tomorrow. They need to bring money for lunch at a fast food restaurant or a sack lunch from home.
For tomorrow's game at Delta Charter:
*Cash entry at the gate
*Bring a lawn chair. The visitor side seating is very small and our band is making the trek!
*They did get 4in of rain yesterday - for those seated along the sidelines in chairs, it may be a little wet.
Safe travels to our Tigers and the rest of the #TigerNation that are making the trip tomorrow. As always, GEAUX TIGERS!!!
