The communities served by North DeSoto schools have seen tremendous growth in recent years. The current North DeSoto Lower Elementary facility originally served grades K-6 and now houses preK-1. North DeSoto Upper Elementary has grown from four classes per grade level to ten. We are proud to serve every student in our schools, but we are simply running out of space. Hallways are crowded, we struggle to accommodate activities, and class sizes are higher than the rest of the parish due to space constraints. The bond proposal proposes a new high school facility, giving the capacity to reconfigure current spaces to meet the needs of the growing community.

JROTC competed at the Airline Meet today. The unarmed female Color Guard placed 2nd!! It was a beautiful day for competition!
Members of NDHS JAG along with Mansfield Middle and High are hosting their inaugural JAGFEST.
The Purpose of JAGFest is to spread awareness in the district about the purpose of the JAG programs, connect with legislative members and businesses across the Desoto area.
NDHS Student Council giving back today by placing flags on the graves at the Veterans Cemetery. Thank you Veterans for your service and sacrifice!
FFA is representing well at National Convention in Illinois. It hasn't all been work. They have had some down time and toured a bit. Today they visited the Garden of gods.
We celebrated birthdays with staff today and enjoyed Walking Frito Pie and cake. Thanks to Ms. Terry for making the delicious chili and to Ms. Amy You g and her class for gathering supplies and setting up.
English I students presented their "expert chapters" for their Jigsaw Presentations where they focused on and analyzed the complex characterization of Grant and Jefferson, the protagonists of the novel they are reading, A Lesson Before Dying. Students asserted what lesson each character learned about what it means to be human causing this noticeable change within them. Students utilized the information and evidence presented through these presentations in order to choose which lesson they felt they and their classmates had the strongest evidence for. The Culminating Writing Task was the final cherry on top where students demonstrated that they could apply these concepts and ideas in a Literary Analysis Essay.

Featured Frequently Asked Question: When would a new school be completed and the new configuration of facilities take place?
If approved by voters in November of 2023, the project would be ready for construction in late summer of 2024 with plans to open to students in 2026. This two-year construction period would help to facilitate a smooth transition for our students at grade levels currently experiencing overcrowding as they transition into middle and high school.
