We are having a lot of phone calls about our previous yearbook post so here are some clarifications. These are first come first serve as stated in the previous post. If you called to reserve one, then you need to pay ASAP either when you pick up your child this afternoon or send money in the morning. Just like every other school payment, we only accept exact cash. Change will not be made and checks will not be accepted. Thanks in advance for making this an easy task for our secretaries!

We have 20 yearbooks available for $45. They are first come first serve. Call the office, come by or send money with your child if you want one. Thanks, NDLE

NDLE teachers and staff want to thank all of the local businesses and community members who are contributing to our treats, gifts, and lunches for teacher appreciation week! We feel loved! #DeSotoServes

The Kona Ice truck will be parked outside the NDLE cafeteria on Wednesday, May 8. Students can purchase snow cones for $3 after lunch. Please send 3$ with your child in an envelope or ziplock bag labelled with their name, teachers name, and Kona Ice.

5 of our 9 Kindergarten classes performed Monday night, 4 classes performed on Tuesday night. In order to accommodate all parents and students, our events at NDLE must be split into different times. Each group did a great job on their night to shine! #DeSotoStrong🎵🎤🤩✨

Here are some pictures from Monday's performance of "Getting' Down With Mother Goose". One of NDLE's favorite small town traditions is giving our Little Griffins the opportunity to experience performing on stage. 🎤🪇🥁🎶

Mrs. West took her PK class outside for a read aloud to learn about worms 🪱. Students had the chance to hunt for worms in their natural habitat, dirt. This kind of real world connection helps our Little Griffins process new information. #TheDeSotoDifference #DreamBelieveAchieve

The new plan prioritizes many of the priorities identified by the community in the survey including improved traffic patterns and a focus on academic areas instead of athletic spaces. With the $85.2 million bond proposal, district 2 would see:
-Improved traffic patterns
-Expanded NDLE with seven new classrooms, new restrooms, new occupational and physical therapy spaces, new library, new administration offices and removal of T-buildings
-A New High School for 900 students (functional capacity not maximum capacity)
-Increased CTE spaces
-Adjusted capacity for HS cafeteria (900 instead of 1,200 to seat half the student population at once) and gymnasium (1,400 instead of 1,800)
-In lieu of a full theater, the plan includes a 450-seat multipurpose space with audience-style seating. This space could be used for drama, cheer, dance, wrestling and other activities when retractable seating is pushed back.
