Congratulations to last month's NDMS 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Students of the Month. They were selected based upon September’s characteristic of DETERMINATION. Determined students are usually extremely motivated and focused on what they want to achieve. Regardless of any roadblocks or challenges, they maintain a resilient mindset and push through to succeed.

NDMS loves our family connection with the other schools on our campus. It was a great morning in FCA having guest speakers from NDHS. Thank you, Luke and BT, for sharing today's message. #griffinfamily #griffinstrong #griffinfca #griffinpride #thedesotodifference

Students not participating in the food drive should be in school uniform. This is also a contest between grade levels. The winning grade will be rewarded in December.

Featured Frequently Asked Question: Does the plan only impact high school students?
No. The bond plan is about more than just the high school! The bond plan would impact learners of all ages in the North DeSoto area! High school students would have a future-focused learning environment, middle school students would have amazing lab and career spaces by moving into the current high school, elementary students would see smaller class sizes and get more one-on-one time with teachers, and our three- and four-year-old PreK programs would be able to accommodate more young learners instead of having a waitlist.

Featured Frequently Asked Question: How much of the bond is dedicated to athletics?
Less than 25% of the $130 million bond is dedicated to athletics or extracurricular spaces. While the facility cost is larger than previous projects, this is due to rising construction costs as well as the DeSoto Parish School Board’s commitment to create a long-term solution for our growing community. Educational spaces account for 78% of the plan and would provide modern learning spaces, future-focused labs and career spaces, and dedicated areas for the PreK programs that currently have a waitlist.

While the Bond plan doesn’t directly impact North DeSoto Middle School, upon completion of the new high school facility, grades 6-8 would transition to the current high school facility. This would open up a variety of educational opportunities for middle school students including advanced science classes in amazing lab and career spaces to get a head start on career and college readiness.

HUGE crowd at our student led FCA meeting this morning! A special shout out to Madi and Gracee for leading the lesson. It's a great day to be a Griffin!

The cost to the taxpayer depends on the value of your home. For example, a $300,000 home in District No. 2 (North DeSoto) with a homestead exemption of $75,000 would have an adjusted taxable value of $225,000 which would be assessed at 10%. The increase from a millage of 3.6 to 34 would result in an annual increase of $684 per year or $57 per month. Download the new Fact Sheet for more information

The bond plan is about more than just the high school! Additions were made in 2014 at the upper elementary and middle schools and those spaces are now full. While other schools in the area have seen a push for lower class sizes at the elementary level, North DeSoto Lower and Upper Elementary Schools cannot have class sizes decrease further due to space constraints. The plan takes all grade levels into consideration so that students thrive.
