Today our top athletes from our Desoto Parish Fitness Meet, competed in the Governor's Games at Pineville High School. These students represented Desoto Parish with superior athleticism and sportsmanship! We are proud of all of our athletes but would like to recognize our own Tripp Taylor for placing second in the Shuttle Run and Logansport's Bailey Robinson for placing first in both the 50 Yard Dash and 600 Yard Run! The April bond plan is $47.5 million less than the November 2023 plan! Many items that were in the 2023 bond plan have been eliminated in the new proposal to better align with the community’s desire to focus on academics.

NDUE Reminder: If you have a 5th Grader at NDUE, please see the attached flyer for information regarding the NDMS 6th Grade Orientation. The student orientation will take place during the school day on April 22nd at 1:30 PM. The parent orientation will take place the following night on April 23rd from 5:30-7:00 PM. The DeSoto Parish School Board is dedicated to being a good steward of taxpayer dollars and are committed to using our resources to provide excellent educational opportunities for our students.
The cost to the taxpayer depends on the value of your home. For example, a $300,000 home in District No. 2 (North DeSoto) with a homestead exemption of $75,000 would have an adjusted taxable value of $225,000 which would be assessed at 10%. The increase from a millage of 3.6 to 22 would result in an annual increase of $414 per year or $34.50 per month.

Just a reminder that Monday will be a regular school day instead of parent teacher conferences in order to accommodate the missed instructional day earlier this week. Conferences can be scheduled on an as needed basis with your child's teacher.
The Design on a Dime silent auction that was scheduled to take place on Monday evening will be moved to Field Day (May 10) in the upstairs lobby.

Important Update: Regular Day of Instruction replaces Virtual Instruction: Monday April, 15:
Due to Wednesday's dismissal and the limited number of quality instructional days remaining in the school year, we will shift our mode of instruction from virtual to a regular day of face-to-face instruction on Monday, April 15. This adjustment will require us to forgo Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences.
If your family is in need of a conference time, please contact your student’s school to schedule a conference for a later date. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we make this adjustment in the best interest of student learning.
