Behavior Intervention Plan

Components of the Behavior Intervention Plan are further explained by following the links to the left. A blank BIP form is located at the bottom of the page, and additional tools for behavior plans and supporting students are located below that. You can use the left-hand menu as you work through the plan.

  • Operationally defining the target behaviors

  • Making a hypothesis for the purpose of the target behavior based on FBA information

  • Preventing challenging behaviors by supporting the replacement behavior and making adjustments to avoid triggers of the challenging behavior

  • Defining replacement behaviors that meet the student's needs

  • Teaching replacement skills to increase student success

  • Reinforcing the new replacement behavior and skills

  • Minimizing the payoff of the challenging behavior
