Operationally defining the target behaviors
Making a hypothesis for the purpose of the target behavior based on FBA information
Preventing challenging behaviors by supporting the replacement behavior and making adjustments to avoid triggers of the challenging behavior
Defining replacement behaviors that meet the student's needs
Teaching replacement skills to increase student success
Reinforcing the new replacement behavior and skills
Minimizing the payoff of the challenging behavior
Planning for any behavior that escalates to a level putting the student or others in danger
