The 5k is just a few days away. We have 400 participants registered so far! Help us meet our goal of 750. Mrs. Bearden’s class is doing a research ‘scoot’ around the room to determine the main idea of excerpts from their reading. They are learning about the plant cycle and understanding how plants grow and survive by reading informational text! #LEADlikeaGriffin

Schools in the North DeSoto area continue to face the challenge of accommodating the community’s rapidly growing population. North DeSoto Upper Elementary also struggles with class sizes due to space constraints. While the Parish standard student-teacher ratio for these grade levels is 20:1, we are seeing higher class sizes in District 2, simply because there is no capacity for additional sections. The school once had four homerooms per grade level but is now seeing 10 per grade level. Voters in District 2 (North DeSoto Schools) rejected a bond proposal for capital improvements in November 2023. Because of the urgency of overcrowding and growing enrollment, the DeSoto Parish School Board has approved an April 27, 2024 election with a revised plan for voters to consider. If your student is missing a jacket, lunchbox, water bottle, hair bow or even shoes, chances are we have it.
