In observance of Spring Break, all administrative offices and school campuses will be closed from March 24th to March 29th. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, April 1st!
Check out a special message from Superintendent Corley as we reflect on the valuable work we do to drive our core values and mission. Enjoy a safe and relaxing break! 🌸🌞
Dear students, staff, and families,
Spring Break is finally here! This upcoming week, we're taking a break from classes, tests, and homework. It's a golden opportunity to step back, unwind, and recharge. Spring Break is a chance to prioritize yourself and your loved ones, which the daily grind often makes difficult.
I want to express my appreciation for all of your hard work as scholars and educators. The personal standard of high performance and expectation of excellence that exists throughout our system is not just a source of pride but the driving force behind our collective success. All across our district, our students and staff continue to be recognized for excellence in so many different areas. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication of each and every one of you. Whether in the classroom, athletic fields, or extracurricular activities, the grit and determination to be better tomorrow than we are today is the hallmark of #TheDeSotoDifference.
So, whether traveling abroad or staying close to home, I encourage you to take some time to engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. A recharged battery and a renewed sense of purpose will launch us into the final stretch of the school year, where I am confident we will continue to rise to the occasion and embrace every opportunity that lies ahead.
Thank you for all that you do. Have a wonderful Spring break!
For Students' Sake,
Clay J. Corley
Superintendent

The DeSoto Parish School Board is dedicated to being a good steward of taxpayer dollars and are committed to using our resources to provide excellent educational opportunities for our students.
The cost to the taxpayer depends on the value of your home. For example, a $300,000 home in District No. 2 (North DeSoto) with a homestead exemption of $75,000 would have an adjusted taxable value of $225,000 which would be assessed at 10%. The increase from a millage of 3.6 to 22 would result in an annual increase of $414 per year or $34.50 per month.

The April 2024 proposal is significantly reduced in costs at $85.2 million with a millage rate of 22. The plan proposes the construction of a new high school and upgrades to the lower elementary which would be combined with reconfiguring grade levels across current facilities.

In December 2023, more than 600 community members participated in a survey to gather more information about the election results and priorities for a solution. Respondents overwhelmingly felt that the 2023 bond was too expensive for taxpayers and that they wanted to see a solution that was less than $100 million with more details available.

Our DOVE students shared in a heartwarming experience of the recent DOVE Dreamhunt Fishing Trip! Students embarked on an adventure filled with laughter, learning, and most importantly, fostering a positive and caring culture within our community.
For some of our incredible participants, casting a line into the waters was a brand-new experience! Witnessing their excitement as they reeled in their first catch filled our hearts with immense joy. This trip wasn't just about fishing; it was about creating cherished memories and nurturing a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and included. 🌈
As we reflect on this unforgettable day, we're reminded of the importance of embracing new experiences and spreading kindness wherever we go. Together, we're building a community where every individual is celebrated for their unique abilities and talents. #TheDeSotoDifference
