Amanda LaFollette Named 2025 Louisiana Elementary School Principal of the Year.
DeSoto Parish Schools is honored to announce that Mrs. Amanda LaFollette, Principal of Mansfield Elementary School, has been named the 2025 Louisiana Elementary School Principal of the Year by the Louisiana Department of Education at the 18th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala, co-sponsored by Dream Teachers! This remarkable achievement makes Mrs. LaFollette the third consecutive division winner for Louisiana Principal of the Year from DeSoto Parish. Mrs. Tamela Phillips, former Principal of North DeSoto High School, won the 2023 Louisiana High School Principal of the Year. Mr. Barry Carter, Principal of North DeSoto Middle School, won the 2024 Louisiana Middle School Principal of the Year.
With Mrs. LaFollette's guidance, Mansfield Elementary has flourished. It embodies DeSoto Parish Schools' core values of high performance, a positive and caring culture, making a difference, and preserving our small-town traditions. DeSoto Parish Schools Sustains Performance in LEAP Assessments.
We're pleased to announce that our students have shown continued progress and sustained high performance in the 2023-2024 Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) scores!
Highlights include:
📈 Grades 3-8:
-3% increase in math proficiency
-6% increase in science proficiency
📚 Third Grade:
-Average 5% increase in proficiency across the district
🔬 Biology:
-Notable growth in the number of students reaching proficiency

Community HealthWays and DeSoto Parish Extension Office-LSU AgCenter are teaming up to put on the DeSoto Parish Health and Resources Fair. This is a great event for families to get all the health resources they need to start a new school year!


Back to School is just around the corner but students and families in DeSoto Parish don’t have to worry about school supplies. Families are only responsible for purchasing school uniforms and a mesh/clear backpack. All other supplies are provided by the district.
