Making changes to lessen the impact:
The April bond plan is $47.5 million less than the November 2023 plan! Many items that were in the 2023 bond plan have been eliminated in the new proposal to better align with the community’s desire to focus on academics.

This is just a reminder from our previous post: Tomorrow, Monday, April 15, will be a regular day of instruction for students. We will not have Student-Parent-Teacher conferences. If you need to schedule a visit with your student's teacher, please contact your school to set up an appointment time.
On Saturday, April 13th, freshmen, sophomores, and seniors from DeSoto Parish's school district came together with NAUW's Manfield Branch and the DeSoto Parish School Board’s Wellness Team for an event called GLOW. The young ladies brought their passion for personal growth and leadership to this annual gathering! During the event, the girls took part in icebreakers, a panel discussion on various careers, sessions on scholarships and emotional wellness, and they even created vision boards. Local sorority members from different sororities set up displays to share information about their organizations. Additionally, an army recruiter was present to speak to the participants, and there was also information available about local colleges. To keep everyone energized, lunch was prepared by the DeSoto Sheriff's Office. #TheDeSotoDifference

Thank you, Empower Schools, for providing us with the opportunity to explore the significance of community engagement and partnerships. This valuable learning will allow us to center on future growth of our career and technical opportunities.
It was an exciting day at Rural Alliance Zone 32's Vision Corner grand opening! Three rural school districts joined forces for career-focused learning. Union City students now have a downtown hub for job skills, including a t-shirt shop, TV, and radio stations. Adults and businesses can also explore vocational skills and entrepreneurship here. #TheDeSotoDifference.

Space may be tight, however this hasn’t stopped NDHS welding students from working hard to master skills that lead to high wage/ high demand careers in industry. They are #DeSotoStrong!

Early Voting begins Saturday, April 13! Be sure to cast an informed vote. Get more information on the district website.
