📊 Attendance Snapshot | Aug. 18–22
DeSoto Parish Schools has met our 95% attendance goal for the 2nd straight week! 🎉
#EveryDayCounts—students who are chronically absent (missing 10%+ of the year) are 7x more likely to drop out. Together, we can keep building strong attendance habits!
#AttendanceMatters #DeSotoStrong

DeSoto Parish Schools will be keeping a close watch on chronic absenteeism this school year as we focus on strong attendance for all students.
What is Chronic Absenteeism? Students who are chronically absent are missing 10% or more school days per year including excused absences. Being chronically absent puts students at serious risk of falling behind.

Week of August 11–15
Our district average attendance was 96% for the first full week of school — exceeding our district goal of 95%! 🙌
We value when our students, families, and staff make daily attendance a priority. Every day counts toward building a strong start to the school year.
📅 August is National Truancy Prevention Month — a reminder that consistent school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success. Missing just two days a month can add up to nearly an entire month of lost learning over the school year.
We are off to a strong start, let's keep moving forward!
