The DeSoto Parish School Board is dedicated to being a good steward of taxpayer dollars and are committed to using our resources to provide excellent educational opportunities for our students. The cost to the taxpayer depends on the value of your home. For example, a $300,000 home in District No. 2 (North DeSoto) with a homestead exemption of $75,000 would have an adjusted taxable value of $225,000 which would be assessed at 10%. The increase from a millage of 3.6 to 22 would result in an annual increase of $414 per year or $34.50 per month. https://www.desotopsb.com/page/nd-bond-24-tax-impact

The April 2024 proposal is significantly reduced in costs at $85.2 million with a millage rate of 22. The plan proposes the construction of a new high school and upgrades to the lower elementary which would be combined with reconfiguring grade levels across current facilities. https://www.desotopsb.com/o/desoto-parish-schools/page/nd-bond-24-the-plan

In December 2023, more than 600 community members participated in a survey to gather more information about the election results and priorities for a solution. Respondents overwhelmingly felt that the 2023 bond was too expensive for taxpayers and that they wanted to see a solution that was less than $100 million with more details available. 🎣🌟 Embracing the Joy of Firsts! 🌟🎣 Our DOVE students shared in a heartwarming experience of the recent DOVE Dreamhunt Fishing Trip! Students embarked on an adventure filled with laughter, learning, and most importantly, fostering a positive and caring culture within our community. For some of our incredible participants, casting a line into the waters was a brand-new experience! Witnessing their excitement as they reeled in their first catch filled our hearts with immense joy. This trip wasn't just about fishing; it was about creating cherished memories and nurturing a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and included. 🌈 As we reflect on this unforgettable day, we're reminded of the importance of embracing new experiences and spreading kindness wherever we go. Together, we're building a community where every individual is celebrated for their unique abilities and talents. #TheDeSotoDifference
